A Haunting : Witching Hour is a storytelling video game of dark horror and desperate survival. An immersive experience finds players discovering – and taking part in – a rich story that explores the dark corners of an urban legend that rocked the town of Shady Hollow. A Haunting will unfold in episodes, giving players the opportunity to continue to unravel a complex mystery through downloadable content that picks up where the previous episode’s cliffhanger left off.
It is scheduled for release on both PC and console platforms.
Backstory
Established in 1659 Shady Hollow is a small remote old town with a troubled history.
September 30th, 1666 four children disappeared. The small town searched the Black Woods in a panic but could find no sign of them. On October 1st, Elizabeth Ainsley was accused of abducting the children. They’d found a little hat, belonging to one of the missing, in the trees near her house. She went immediately to trial and was hanged that night as a witch. It’s said that over the last 350 years, more than 100 people have gone missing. To this day, the townspeople of Shady Hollow blame the ghost of Elizabeth Ainsley. They say she still walks the wood at night searching for lost souls. They call her “The Hollow Creek Witch”.
In the Spring of 1956, the Lansdown family came to town with a coal mining operation. Jobs in the mines and processing plants were to be had and a small population boom hit the town. Even then there were still whispers of The Hollow Creek Witch.
The Lansdown family consisted of John and Debbie Lansdown and their son Clifton. In the 1960 they had a daughter and named her Sally. Sally disappeared on October 1st 1966. The whole town searched for her, but to no avail… All that was found was a shoe in the woods. John and Debbie Lansdown took ill in their grief and never recovered; Debbie died in the summer of 1967, John a few months after. In 2007 Clifton died, leaving his only son (Cliff) to care for the manor. Some say the family is cursed. Others say it’s the land where the Hollow Creek Witch was hung.
